THE OASIS of green in the middle of Bulwell town centre has again won a special award.
For the Bulwell Bogs recreation park (pictured), which straddles the River Leen, has been awarded a prestigious Green Flag for being one of the best open spaces in the county.

The Bogs is one of only nine parks to have been granted the award in the city of Nottingham.

And it delighted Jackie Morris, who is chairman of the Friends Of Bulwell Bogs organisation.

"The Green Flag is a source of pride for Bulwell and a reward for all the hard work of the group and Nottingham City Council," she said.

Coun Dave Trimble (Lab), who is the council's Cabinet member for communities, leisure and culture, added: "Parks and open spaces have an important part to play in improving the health and wellbeing of people in the city.

"By making the sites safer and more attractive, we hope that more people will be encouraged to enjoy them." - DISPIC 08-1625-8.
