BULWELL'S historic Old Town Hall is being given a new lease of life – thanks to the Take 5 Theatre School of Dancing and a story in the Dispatch.
The Dispatch disclosed last year the school's bid to move into the building.

Now the school have revealed that they are definitely moving into the Highbury Road landmark some time in the New Year.

"But we have not yet raised nearly enough money to carry out all the necessary renovations," says Amanda Hart, who runs the school.

"We need to carry on with fundraising and we are appealing to any businesses that would like to help us out with support or donations."

Dispatch district firms who have already backed the project are Briton Fabricators, Greggs the bakers, Dolly Dusters, Gymophobics, JTF, Hucknall's Texaco petrol station, MJ Butchers and Ahead Of The Times.

A forthcoming fundraiser will be a charity football match between teams representing Take 5 and Hucknall parking wardens, officially known as civil enforcement officers (CEOs).

"If any businesses would like to sponsor us for the match, that would be fantastic," says Amanda. "The Tesco superstore in Long Eaton have already donated towards the game.

"I have also been doing my own fundraising whenever I can, such as with car-boot sales.

"A lot of parents, family members and friends of Take 5 have given great support as they know this is what our students need and what the Bulwell community is crying out for."

Amanda (35), who lives in the Heronridge area of Top Valley, has taught dancing for 14 years and the Take 5 school has about 140 members.
