SUPERMARKET giants Tesco want to hear the public's ideas before submitting plans to open a new store in Bulwell – starting next week.
A formal application has not yet been submitted, but the firm are targeting the former Kwik Save building off Main Street for a new store that will create more than 400 jobs.

And Tesco are to stage a public exhibition next Wednesday and Thursday (
July 16 and 17) from 12 midday to 5.30pm in Market Place.

There will be boards displaying the plans and the project team will be on hand to answer any questions.

Local residents are invited to go along and view the proposals and are encouraged to leave their comments and suggestions.

Tony Fletcher, Tesco corporate affairs manager, said: "We are excited about the prospect of bringing a new store to Bulwell, but before we finalise the plans we want to hear the views of the community.

"With a limited choice available for food shopping locally, we want to provide a new store for the community in Bulwell.

"The former Kwik Save on Main Street is a great site, but in urgent need of redevelopment. A new store would reclaim this derelict and unsafe area, bringing it back into use.

"Bulwell has been crying out for a supermarket for a number of years, with many residents forced to travel elsewhere to do their shopping.

"A new Tesco would keep customers shopping in Bulwell, whilst attracting others from outside the town. It would also mean employment opportunities for local people with around 440 jobs created."
