VIBRANT Bulwell Market Place has come into its own as a major social hub.
Hundreds of families took advantage of glorious sunny weather to attend a family fun day there on Bank Holiday Monday.

The event was organised by Nottingham City Council's area one committee in conjunction with Bulwell Vision regeneration group.

The fun day was made possible by a new policy of removing stalls on non-market days, leaving the space free for other activities.

Attractions included rides on a 'rodeo bull', a bouncy castle and a display by members of Bulwell's Swinger Amateur Boxing Club.

There were also belly dancing and salsa dancing workshops as well as an appearance by Steve Pike and his Street Performers.

A snake, a large tortoise, rabbits and ducks were on view at a display by the White Post Petting Zoo from Farnsfield. Among other activities were face-painting and children's fairground rides.

A plan of the proposed Bulwell Academy was on view and the area's Bulwell Education Action Zone told of plans for an extended service, including breakfast and after-school clubs, across the Bulwell 'family of schools'.
