CUTTING the number of teenage pregnancies in Bulwell is among a set of key targets for Nottingham over the next three years.
The Dispatch revealed earlier this year that Bulwell has the highest number of teenagers falling pregnant than anywhere else in the country.

There were calls for action with Bulwell Labour MP Graham Allen leading the way.

Already an early inter
vention scheme has been launched to give young people more support and boost their aspirations.

But now Nottingham has signed up to a Local Area Agreement (LAA) that sets out priorities for Nottingham City Council, health services, police, the voluntary sector and businesses.

Also among the key areas are improving job opportunities and qualifications for young people.

The LAA has been published by the regeneration organisation One Nottingham and aims to streamline decision-making so funding can be accessed more easily.

Mr Allen is chairman of One Nottingham and believes the LAA extends the focus on early intervention.

Coun Jon Collins (Lab), who is vice-chairman of One Nottingham and leader of the city council, added: "The days of organisations serving the public in isolation are thankfully long gone and the new LAA is an excellent example of us all joining up."
