Autumn delight at church fundraising bash

HOME-BAKED cakes are always a popular attraction at church fairs and this was definitely the case when Hucknall’s Seymour Road Baptist Church held its autumn fundraiser last Saturday.

Parishioners spent a number of weeks preparing for the event, which proved as popular as ever and attracted visitors from across the town.

As well as cakes, there were plenty of other things to bring people in, including bric-a-brac, a tombola, raffle and refreshments to keep visitors fed and watered while they perused the stalls.

“The event was very well supported by the community,” said the Rev Vanessa Hollingworth. “The refreshments were very popular and included an autumn brunch, which consisted of bacon butties and soup.

“I’d like to thank everyone who organised the event and helped run it, together with all those who visited during the day and supported the fair,” added Vanessa. “The event raised just over £500 towards the church funds, which is wonderful.”
