Blooming Bunches up for top business award

A NEWSTEAD-based business is in full bloom after being shortlisted for a national award.

Online florist BUNCHES.CO.UK is a finalist in the small online business of the year category in the National Business Awards and will be battling it out in Novemeber to take the top prize.

Bunches, of Hazelford Way, was founded in 1989 by Erik Hoving, who is company chairman. His daughter, Danielle Turner, is now in the driving seat as managing director.

“We are so proud that Bunches.co.uk has been recognised as a finalist for such a prestigious award,” said Danielle (pictured). “Great value, quality flowers and excellent service are at the heart of everything Bunches does and we work hard to continually improve our website and customer experience.”

The business delivers 400,000 bouquets a year through online and telephone orders.

It employs 46 permanent staff at its base. Staffing numbers increase at busy times especially in the run up to Mother’s Day and Valentine’s Day.

Bunches puts its continuing success down to its customer service and its ability to control costs.

“We are very proud of our customer-service policy and deal with queries and any complaints effectively,” said marketing officer, Jenny Histead. “By keeping our operation all in-house we can control our costs and the quality of our products and service. These combined make us successful.”

Bunches is now preparing a presentation for the National Business Awards’ judges later this month before returning to London in Novemeber for the award finals at a gala dinner.

Jenny added: “There are nine other businesses we are competing against in our category, but we are keeping our fingers crossed that we will win the award.”
