HUCKNALL’S generous community has come together in impressive fashion to help make the life of a terminally-ill toddler a little brighter.

Businesses, friends, neighbours and strangers have all been digging deep to boost funds on behalf of two-year-old Beau Angelides.

The brave youngster has been left blind and unable to feed naturally — by a rare condition known as Sanfilippo Disease (SD).

His mum, Lindsey Pascoe, of Annesley Road, launched a fundraising campaign with the backing of the Dispatch dubbed Beau Beau’s Fund.

Now she says she has been ‘overwhelmed’ by the amount of support and money people continue to give.

A group of eight local cyclists from Annesley Road’s Pro Bikes did a sponsored ride to Skegness and collected more than £1,000. They were supported by a vehicle supplied by the AA.

Meanwhile, stylists at Watnall Road’s Pineapple Hair and Beauty Studio dedicated a whole week to fundraising.

“We raised £1,000, which was incredible considering we only did small things,” said stylist Natalie Cokkinos. “We are really delighted to have helped Beau.”

Jane Watson and a colleague raised another £1,000 in a sponsored parachute jump.

A sensory garden at the family’s home is now partially completed thanks to the generosity of townsfolk and businesses, including Central Waste, which gave a skip for free, KeyCraft, and Oakfield Construction to name a few. A special ‘pea pod’ chair has also been bought for Beau.

“I just can’t believe how many people have helped in so many ways,” says Lindsey. “People from all walks of life, of all ages and backgrounds have given so much for my son — it’s just hard to comprehend.”

“Knowing people care gives us strength as a family and helps us cope,” added Lindsey, who also has two daughters, aged four and seven. “Thank you and Beau Beau sends a big, sloppy kiss to you all.”
