Deacon Blue are back with a new album and a trip to Sheffield City Hall on Tuesday October 16 as part of their 25th Anniversary UK Tour.

Deacon Blue’s debut album ‘Raintown’ was released 25 years ago, making 2012 a year to remember as they commemorate their 25th anniversary since its release. To celebrate, the band have reunited and headed out to 15 UK cities this October including Sheffield.

The Anniversary Tour will feature songs from their new studio album ‘The Hipsters,’ which was released in September by Demon Music, as well as some of Deacon Blue’s greatest hits which were last performed at Sheffield City Hall in 2007. The Scottish group have gathered a dedicated following over their 25 year history and tallied up six million album sales with two UK number 1 singles.

After a five year split in 1994 the band have since ventured onto different career paths but have reunited for a new tour with the same passion for their music and fans as their very first album.

As Ricky Ross comments: “Our 25th anniversary has been looming, and I hoped that the band and I could release new material to celebrate. I’ve been writing songs with Deacon Blue in mind for a few years now, and it’s great to be back in the studio in Glasgow getting these tracks down. I can’t wait to get them out on the road!”

The band’s classic soulful melodies along with their freshest sounds from ‘Hipster’ will grace the Oval Hall in October and are hoping their fans both old and new will celebrate their milestone with them. Irwin Mitchell Oval Hall, Tuesday October 16, 2012, 8.00pm. Tickets, £29.50, £39.50, tel. 01142 789 789 Sheffield City Hall VIP Hospitality Available
