Maths whizz passes his GCSE — at age of 11
A HUCKNALL boy has passed a GCSE maths exam — at the age of only 11.
ISAAC DIXON (pictured), of Ladycroft Avenue, took the exam when he was still a pupil at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Primary Schoolin the town.
He now attends Christ The King School in Arnold.
Isaac is the elder son of Dominic and Kay Dixon and he has an eight-year-old brother, Theo.
Kay said: “Isaac got a grade C, which is the highest possible for the foundation level.”
Isaac’s exceptional abilities were recognised at Holy Cross, which is why arrangements were made for him to take the GCSE there.
“Christ The King is well aware of his potential and is tailoring the tuition he receives accordingly,” said Kay.
“It goes without saying that we are very proud of him. He is very pleased with his result but he is a very natural, good-natured lad and modest about anything he achieves.
“He absolutely loves maths. He enjoys nothing more than sitting down and working at something.”
Isaac’s academic talents are not confined to maths. He could read when he went to a playgroup at the age of two-and-a-half.
He is also an all-rounder with regard to his interests. He likes cricket, plays the violin and is a member of the Hucknall Royal British Legion Scout Group.
The head teacher at Holy Cross, Pat Snowdon, is full of praise for Isaac.
She said: “He was an exemplary pupil while he was with us. He was also very popular and became a peer tutor for other children in his class. He was always willing to help them in any way he could.
“We borrowed books from secondary school to help him with the maths exam. But he did not need much teaching because he absorbs it all so easily.” — DISPIC NHUD 12-2574-3.
