Murder and music on new talks programme
MURDER and music will be subjects of a well-varied programme of talks arranged by Hucknall Heritage Society for the coming eight months.
The society meets at the Central Methodist Church on Baker Street, Hucknall, on the second Monday of each month, starting at 7.30 pm.
The title of the first talk, to be given by Tony Horton next Monday, is ‘Murder Most Foul’.
Then, on October 8, well-known Hucknall painter Hedley Carrington will talk about ‘My Life As A Railway Poster Artist’.
Peter Hammond will delve into ‘The Diary Of A Framework Knitter’ on November 12 and the subject of a talk at the society’s first meeting — on January 14 — will be ‘All About Linby’, given by parish councillor Bob Brothwell.
The speaker on February 11 is Stephen Flinders on ‘Stanton At War’ and Nottingham archaeologists will speak about ‘Local Digs’ on March 11. The society’s annual general meeting will take place on April 8 and the title of a talk on May 13 will be ‘Musical Memories’.
“We are very much looking forward to our 2012-13 programme,” said a spokeswoman for the society. “I would like to stress that all visitors are welcome.”
