New president takes on Inner Wheel reins
AFTER completing a hat-trick of stints as president of the HUCKNALL INNER WHEEL CLUB, Brenda Ward has handed over the reins to Nova Haskey.
But well-known Nova is also no stranger to the position, for she has already held the prestigious office once before herself.
Inner Wheel is a female-only international organisation that is closely linked to Rotary International. There are 98,000 members of Inner Wheel clubs in 103 countries around the world.
Hucknall has 35 members, and as well as helping out the town’s Rotary Club with various events, they independently raise money for charities and have monthly meetings, often with speakers.
During Brenda’s latest year as president, more than £1,500 was distributed to various local charities, including Hucknall’s Under One Roof project. Also, more than £800 was sent to global charities by the overseas service organiser, Jean Brinklow.
As usual the annual winter warmer was enjoyed by many. At monthly meetings, speakers have been varied and interesting, including a talk from Kay Adlington, the mum of Olympic swimmer Rebecca.
Newly-appointed Nova’s theme for the year is ‘Friendship and Fun’.
