Recycle your Christmas trees

Throughout January, Veolia Environmental Services (Nottinghamshire County Council’s waste contractors) are encouraging residents to recycle their real Christmas tree by taking it to one of the 14 Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) across the county. The trees are then either chipped to make paths in parks and gardens or shredded for composting.

Included in the scheme is the one on Hucknall’s Wigwam Lane.

Christmas trees, along with any other green garden waste, can be recycled at the HWRCs throughout the year. Until 31st January, Veolia will donate £100 for every 50 tonnes of Christmas trees and garden waste received at the HWRCs, to The Nottingham Hospitals Charity, the chosen charity of the chairman of Nottinghamshire County Council.

Coun Carol Pepper, Chair of Nottinghamshire County Council said: “The Nottingham Hospitals Charity is an excellent charity and we hope to raise as much money as possible for patients of the Cystic Fibrosis Centre and their families. I would urge all residents to recycle their real Christmas tree to help make a real difference.”
