Rotarians mark World Day Of Peace

HUCKNALL Rotary Club brought a number of organisations together under one roof to mark the International Day of Peace.

A drop-in clinic was arranged at Broomhill Road children’s centre by the club under the theme of ‘maintaining peace in the home and family’, as a way people could get advice and support to diffuse stressful situations.

“It was our idea to use the international peace day to link in with our local initiative of raising awareness of domestice violence,” explained club president, Ian Young.

“There were a number of people available to give help and advice to young families on various topics with the aim of creating a better home life.

“This is the first time we have held a day like this but despite the slow start, we soon became very busy with visits from many people.

“Internationally, the Rotary Club’s annual theme is ‘Peace Through Service’ so this was a great way to join our local project with the worldwide initiative.”
