THEY have helped hundreds of Dispatch district residents towards a healthier weight and lifestyle.

And now LYN WATSON and LUCY PARKER have been recognised for their outstanding service to slimmers.

They were awarded Weight Watchers Diamond Leader status at the regional Weight Watchers conference in Manchester.

Lyn runs three sessions a week in Hucknall and Lucy formerly attended one of her classes at the town’s Watnall Road Community Centre.

The award, which celebrates leaders who have provided exceptional support to their members during their weight-loss journey, is only given out once every two years to a select group across the UK.

This year Lyn and Lucy have helped their members shed approximately 9,000lb — more than 640 stone — and have led many members to shed five per cent or more of their weight.

Weight Watchers UK operational director Samantha Rhodes, who presented the awards, said: “At the heart of Weight Watchers’ success are inspiring leaders like Lyn and Lucy.”

Lyn has been with Weight Watchers for eight years — first as a member who successfully lost more than five-and-a-half stone and then as a leader, running five meetings a week in Hucknall, Mansfield and Carlton.

Lucy has been with Weight Watchers for five years, losing 22-and-a-half pounds before becoming a leader running three meetings a week in Bilborough, Nuthall and Kimberley.

“We are delighted to have them as part of the team and immensely proud of the difference they make to their local community,” said Samantha.

This is the fourth time Lyn has been awarded Diamond Leader status. She said: “I am thrilled. I’m so proud of my members and how well they have done. To get this award for something I love is amazing.”

Lyn said she was especially pleased to see Lucy get her second Diamond Leader award. “She lost 22 and a half pounds while a member of a class I run in Hucknall and went on to lead groups of her own.”

Lyn runs three sessions a week in Hucknall — at Watnall Road Community Centre on Tuesdays at 6.30 pm and Wednesdays at 10 am and at Seymour Road Baptist Church Hall on Wednesdays at 6.30 pm.
