A SCARED Hucknall woman has slammed police after she became the latest victim of a 'flasher' on a stretch of road in Annesley.
The 37-year-old, who does not want to be named, was standing alone at a bus stop at the beginning of the Hucknall-bound side of the A611 bypass on Monday at 5.50 pm.

While she was waiting for her bus, a man came out of the woods, crossed the road and stood near her.

He then began masturbating and walking closer towards her. As soon as she realised what he was doing, she called the police and the 'flasher' ran back across the road and into the woods.

The disgusted woman said: "When cars came past, he would cover himself up. When they stopped at the lights at the roundabout junction with the A608 he would start again.

"But when I called 999 I was put on hold. I was on the phone to the police for six minutes and for two of these I was on hold. I was eventually told that officers were on their way but the man had long gone.

"It did not give me any confidence in the police whatsoever. This man could have done anything, but there was no urgency from the police at all.

"My bus wasn't due until 6.06 pm and I felt like I was being watched from the woods so I phoned my brother for someone to talk to."

The woman's brother only put the phone down when a young man arrived at the bus stop to catch the same bus.

But when the woman got on she was surprised to hear from other ladies on the bus that they were using a stop nearer to the Badger Box pub for safety.

And when she arrived home, the woman was shocked to discover that the man had already struck twice before and police were supposed to be on the lookout for him.

"I can't believe they didn't rush to my aid," she said, "I was alone at a spot where this man had struck before.

"There will be other women who do not know about this man and will probably catch the bus at this stop without a second thought.

"But this man needs to be caught before he commits a more serious crime."

The woman told how the police finally contacted her at 9.55 pm to tell her that they had started a search of the woods but got called to a break-in, which was considered more important.

She was also told that the police officer who took the 999 call believed she wanted the police to visit her at home rather than respond immediately to the call.

"The police let me down," she said. "They already knew about this man so they should have been there quicker.

"There could be young girls or children at that bus stop and who knows what could happen."

The 'flasher' struck at virtually the same spot at around the same time on Wednesday April 2 and Tuesday May 13.

Monday's victim described him as 5' 9" or 5' 10", white, in his 40s with long hair sticking out from underneath a woollen hat.

He was wearing a dirty dark green jacket, dark pants and he had a back pack. The woman said he looked like he lived rough.

Anyone with any information is asked to ring the police on 01623 420999 or call the free and confidential 'Crimestoppers' hotline on 0800 555111.
