Drug-users blood sprayed up woman's door

THE blood of a drug-user, sprayed all over her front door, has proved to be the final straw for a fed-up resident of Hucknall's notorious Goodall Crescent.
Now Andrea Douglas (46) has decided to speak out about how her life is being made a "living hell" by anti-social behaviour.
She claims residents urinate out of their windows, while she has also been threatened, harassed and even groped near her home.
Other problems include loud noise, crime and an alleged lack of support and presence from the police and Ashfield Homes, who are charged with maintaining the area.
But the discovery of the blood, caused by a drug addict injecting outside her Ashfield District Council-owned flat, left Andrea disgusted.
"I have been a victim for two years," she said. "I was gobsmacked when I found the blood. It happened at a weekend so I phoned the council's emergency number and was told wardens weren't available to help.
"The woman on the phone asked if I could clean it off myself. I was amazed. Would anyone start cleaning up a drug user's blood?
"I contacted the police but it was three weeks before an officer contacted me with a view to coming and taking a swab for evidence. This is the sort of service we are getting up here."
Andrea, who lives alone, says she has been on the housing waiting-list for more than a year, despite repeatedly reporting her problems.
She says she has been told she doesn't have enough points (the system by which houses are allocated) but disputes this and claims residents with fewer points are actually being moved.
"I have had my electricity tampered with and have seen residents urinate out of windows," added Andrea, who has lived on Goodall for five years. "I need to get out."
The Dispatch featured Andrea previously when she branded Goodall Crescent as "like living in World War Three".
The controversial residential area in Butlers Hill features ten blocks of flats and is Hucknall's premier hotspot for crime and anti-social behaviour.
Problems range from fly-tipping, graffiti and petty vandalism to smashed windows, arson attacks, violence, stabbings and drug use.
Andrea previously claimed yobs were "running riot" and residents were living in fear. She campaigned for help from the authorities but says things have still not improved.
Her friend and neighbour, Susan Ellis (35), who lives with her 11-year-old son, Sam, says they too have been victims. Their lives are blighted by the playing of loud music.
Said Susan: "I have had two years of filling out forms and logbooks, detailing problems, but nothing has been done. It is a nightmare."
The Dispatch attempted to speak to representatives of the police and Ashfield Homes but no-one was available.
