LONG-serving Hucknall MP Paddy Tipping is predicted to lose his seat at the next General Election in the face of a nationwide revolt against Labour.
Mr Tipping (58) has been the representative for the Parliamentary constituency of Sherwood, which includes Hucknall, since 1992 when he ousted Conservative Andy Stewart.

He secured the seat again for Labour in 2005 with a majority of 6,402, althou
gh this was down from 9,373 at the previous General Election.

However experts behind the website, electoral calculus, forecast that, as things stand today, Mr Tipping's seat is vulnerable and will be taken by the Tories.

The forecast is based on opinion polls published in the last three months and mirrors the picture across the country with the Conservatives tipped to storm into Downing Street.

But former social worker Mr Tipping dismissed the prediction, saying: "It could be two years until the next General Election. I work hard for the people of Hucknall.

"I am also the only MP to have had a base in the constituency (within the council offices on Watnall Road, Hucknall).

"We always try our hardest. We do not always win but we try and I have plenty of things to do without worrying about a website making predictions for a General Election, the date of which doesn't even exist."

On the other side of the Dispatch district, electoral calculus predicts that Bulwell's Labour MP, Graham Allen, will retain his seat at the next General Election.

The 55-year-old has been the representative of the constituency of Nottingham North since 1987 and has enjoyed hefty majorities ever since.

His winning margin in 2005 was 12,171 votes, which was only down slightly on the previous election. However electoral calculus do suggest his majority could be halved next time round.

A high-profile and outspoken MP, Mr Allen was voted 'Backbencher Of The Year' in 2002 in the Channel 4 political awards.
