Band set for jam-packed Christmas programme
Hucknall and Linby Mining Community Brass Band
THE annual Christmas concert presented by Hucknall and Linby Mining Community Brass band at the town’s Parish Church has become an popular part of the festive calendar.
Now final arrangements are being made for the one to be held this year on Saturday December 22, starting at 7.30 pm.
Band spokesman Ernie Whyley said: “I think the concert will be an ideal way to embark on the festive season.”
The band’s musical director, Paul Whyley, has again selected a delightful blend of traditional as well as seasonal music to provide entertainment aimed at suiting all tastes.
The hard-working church ladies will provide refreshments at the interval.
The band was formed in Hucknall in 2008 and has since made big strides forward. “People of Hucknall have given us great support in our development,” said Ernie.
The band is in great demand and in recent years it has performed for the annual Pride of Hucknall award ceremony at Central Methodist Church on Baker Street, Hucknall.
Members are booked to play for the annual event to mark the lighting of Linby’s Christmas tree on Monday December 17.
Small groups from the band will perform carol concerts at Hucknall’s Tesco superstore during December and another engagement will be a joint concert with a choir at Nottingham Albert Hall on Sunday December 16.
Highlights in the New Year will include taking part in a Butlins contest at Skegness on Saturday January 19 and an area contest at Bedworth, Warwickshire on Saturday March 9.
