WATNALL Road Baptist Church was the host this year for the Hucknall service of the WOMEN’S WORLD DAY OF PRAYER.
The service was written by Christian women of Malaysia and was entitled ‘Let Justice Prevail’. Words of injustice were hung from paper chains which were cut by the event leader, Mandy Smith, of the Baptist Church, symbolising the power of prayer to release people from the ‘chain of suppression’. The speaker, Mary Hulme, also of the host church, led a moving meditation.
Readers took part from other Hucknall churches — Holy Cross Catholic, Seymour Road Baptist, the Salvation Army, Wesleyan Reform, the Parish Church, Central Methodist and St Peter and St Paul’s.
A collection totalling £153.18 and will be distributed to Christian literary societies.
