A FACT-FINDING visit took a group of residents to one of the key firms at Sherwood Business Park in Annesley.
Members of the community group ANNESLEY COMMUNITY COMMITTED TO ENSURING SUSTAINABLE SETTLEMENTS (ACCESS) went to Turbine Surface Technologies, where they heard a presentation and were given a tour of the factory.
The visit was organised after ACCESS chairman Peter Olko and vice-chairman Bob Collier contacted bosses at the firm to find out how residents could find out more about the company.
During the visit, guests discovered more about the history of the firm and learned about the technology it uses to coat turbine blades before they are sent to Rolls-Royce to be assembled for its Trent engine-range, which were originally tested at Rolls’s base on Watnall Road in Hucknall.
These engines power planes such as the Boeing Dreamliner, 777, Airbus A330 and superjumbo, the A380.
