Festive treat for flower group

FESTIVE foliage was used to create some stunning displays during a Christmas-inspired meeting of Hucknall Flower Arranging Group.

Members welcomed special guest and demonstrator Ian Buxton to the John Godber Centre. Ian used his skills to create magical displays.

“It was a fabulous evening and proved a great success,” said group spokesman Christine Chadwick. “We had more people attend the demonstration than we have had in a long time.”

Ian is a national demonstrator who gave tips and advice throughout the evening to the enthralled audience.

“Ian created five different displays during the evening,” explained Christine.

“Using seasonal foliage and flowers, including holly and berries as well as red roses, carnations and gerberas, Ian gave plenty of ideas to the guests to help them create their own displays at home.

“In another centrepiece he used a beautiful white amarylis with baubles and blue lights and blue spruce and in another, a piece of tall driftwood with three red placements looked highly effective.

“All the displays were very impressive and delighted the audience.”

Hucknall Flower Arranging Group currently has 60 members who meet up regularly throughout the year.

The group do not meet in January however and their next meeting will be held in February, which will be their annual general meeting.

But the group will be working on creating their contribution to the Hucknall Christmas Tree Festival display by presenting their ‘Starry Night’ tree, complete with fresh white gerberas.
