Leenside ladies get crafty

AN ACTION-packed craft evening, featuring four demonstrators, wowed members of LEENSIDE (HUCKNALL) WOMEN’S INSTUTUTE (WI) at their latest meeting.

Leenside duo Sharon Smith and Jenny Holmes demonstrated cake decorations and card-making respectively, while Gillian Rand, of Kimberley WI showed ‘Origami cushions’ and Pam Bradley, also of Kimberley, told the secrets of the ‘Magic Bag’.

A members’ craftwork competition was won by Margaret Linsley. And it was announced that the Notts County Federation of WIs is holding a fundraising, two-day craft fair later this month.

It was treported at the annual meeting of the Beauvale Group of WIs, Leenside took second place in the competition for a display depicting autumn.

Leenside secretary Sandra Green asked to form teams for the WI county quiz and a kurling competition (non-ice version of curling) next year.

Final arrangements were made for a coffee morning at the Central Methodist Church, Baker Street, Hucknall, tomorrow (Saturday). The next meeting will be a 44th birthday party for members only.
