PHOTO ALBUM MEMORIES 1953: Outdoor performance of school play

THIS photo, showing an outdoor performance of a school play, poses a mystery which we hope readers will help us to solve.

We do not know which school was involved or what sort of play it was.

So this week’s contribution to our PHOTO ALBUM MEMORIES series comprises a real brain teaser.

All we are sure of is that the play was presented in 1953, which was notable for the Queen’s Coronation, the ascent of Everest and the Stanley Matthews Cup Final.

Incidentally, this was also the year when former Dispatch chief reporter Denis Robinson began his career of 57-plus years with the paper. Taking part in the play would surely have made the year a memorable one for the children.

WHY NOT DIG OUT YOUR OLD PHOTO ALBUMS AND JOIN OUR WEEKLY TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE?

E-mail newsdesk@hucknall-dispatch.co.uk or drop them off in the Dispatch ‘Community Postbox’ at Johnson’s newsagents, High Street.

Hard copies can be returned once they have been published.
