Ready to tread the boards in Anything Goes show

REHEARSALS have been completed and the players of the Nottingham West Music and Drama Society (NOWMADS) are into their run of performances for their autumn production of the Cole Porter Classic ‘Anything Goes’.

NOWMADS’ stalwart Gill Williams is directing the musical comedy, which is set aboard the ocean liner SS American in 1930s New York.

The production, which features a fabulous score with songs such as ‘I Get A Kick Out Of You’, ‘Blow Gabriel Blow’ and the delightful ‘De Lovely’, marks the debut of new musical director John WilsonEvergreen performer Rosemary Lishman, who is business manager at Hempshill Hall Primary School in Bulwell, takes on the principal female role of former evangelist turned nightclub singer Reno Sweeney.

Rosemary’s daughter, Hannah, a teacher at the same school where her mum works, is one of the leading dancers.

Emma Heydon, from Watnall, plays the part of American heiress Hope Harcourt, while former Hucknall resident Martin Belcher stars as the love-struck Billy Crocker.

NOWMADS’ rising star Tom Bailey, in his role as hoodlum-cum-cleric Moonface Martin, will be hoping to impress while relative newcomer Jono Wilson has landed a plum role as Lord Evelyn Oakley.

The show continues tonight (Friday) and tomorrow (Saturday) at Kimberley School and tickets are still available.
