Transform your kids from couch potatoes to pictures of health

HUCKNALL families looking for their children to lead a more healthy lifestyle are being offered support through a new Ashfield District Council initiative.

B Active B Healthy is a new programme being rolled out across the district in a partnership between the council and Everyone Active.

“B Active B Healthy is a perfect opportunity for families to get support to increase their activity levels or learn how to eat more healthily in a fun, supportive environment,” said Coun Steve Carroll (Lab), Ashfield’s lead member for culture.

“Feedback from our first-ever programme was really positive with all families attending showing an improvement in their health and wellbeing by making small, manageable lifestyle changes throughout the ten-week programme.”

Each programme and is made up of one two-hour session per week, including one hour of fun multi-sports/junior swimming and one hour of practical nutrition advice.

Additional free leisure-centre activities will also be available.

Starting on Monday September 23 from 5-7pm at Hucknall Leisure Centre will be the session for four-to-six year olds. The Lammas Leisure Centre in Sutton will host the sessions for seven-to-ten-year-olds and 11-to-15 year olds starting Thursday September 27.

The cost is £2 per session or £16 up front for all ten weeks. Places must be booked in advance.
