Wonder dog Millie does the trick to raise funds to help deaf and blind

A WONDER dog that has followed in the footsteps of ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ winner Pudsey has showcased her talents to boost the fundraising of a Hucknall charity shop.

Millie, of Watnall, a Pembrokeshire corgi, is forging a reputation as a canine charity champion.

Throughout the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee year, the pet’s owners, Grenville and Elaine, have chosen to put her skills to good use by backing good causes through her shows.

The latest to benefit is the Sense shop on Hucknall High Street, which raises funds for those who are deaf and blind.

A total of £400 has now been presented to shop manager Sofia del Gaudio, who said: “During the year we get many donations of support but this is the first time a dog, albeit a ‘wonder dog’, has come into our shop carrying a cheque.

“We are extremely grateful and the money will be used to improve the lives of deaf/blind people locally.”

Six-year-old Millie, who has achieved platinum accreditation for obedience, has been taught several tricks.

She can dance to music, carry out basic instructions, seek out fake drugs, find lost keys, take to obstacle courses and feign sleep.

Her owners have developed an entertaining programme of Millie’s talents and proudly put on performances for local groups and organisations.
