FORMER Mansfield Town midfielder Danny Sleath has been trying to earn a deal at Hucknall Town.
The 21-year-old Matlock-born player has been training with Mick Galloway and Andy Miller's squad and could line up against his ex-employers on July 19.

For that is when The Stags visit Watnall Road for The Yellows' first pre-season friendly.

Sl
eath is a left-footed player and is equally at home in central midfield or on the left wing.

He came through Mansfield's youth system and was handed a professional contract at Field Mill in the summer of 2006.

During the 2006/07 season, Sleath was loaned out to Gresley Rovers in Division One South of the Unibond League and made five appearances, scoring one goal.

Later that season he was loaned out to Hucknall's bitter rivals,
Alfreton Town, where he made three appearances.

Sleath was recalled to Field Mill in March last year and made his first-team debut for the then Coca Cola League Two side against Boston United.

He was then loaned out to Boston the following November but made only one appearance for The Pilgrims – in their 2-1 defeat at Gateshead in the FA Trophy.

Another loan spell followed at Gainsborough Trinity in March this year until the end of the season.

When he was released by The Stags, in May, Sleath had made eight appearances (plus 11 as substitute) during his two years at the club, who were relegated at the end of the season the the Blue Square Premier.
