BRAMCOTE 185-9
HUCKNALL 187-7 Foster spanked nine boundaries as he raced to 50 from just 37 balls to help dig the leaders out of a hole in a keenly-contested match against midtable Bramcote.
For the locals struggled early on
in reply to the visitors' total with the scoreboard reading 12 for two after Adam Brown was dismissed by an athletic caught and bowled and new signing Robin Maxwell, making his home debut, fell for one.
Graham Caudwell (18, three fours) and Andy Wagstaff steadied the ship with a stand of 26 before Wagstaff (41, six fours) and Scott Harris (27, four fours) continued the recovery.
But when they departed, Hucknall were five down with 84 still needed and the match was finely poised with Hollingsworth (four for 38 from 12 overs) the pick of the Bramcote attack.
However, the visitors didn't reckon on man-of-the-match Foster who, with the help of Lee Smith (25, four fours), took control.
OK, Foster lost his wicket when trying to hit a winning boundary, but the damage had been done and it was left to the experienced Jamie
Braybrook (ten not out) to stroke the winning four.
Earlier, Bramcote had failed to take advantage of good conditions and posted a below-par total in an innings that started slowly with just 12 runs from the first six overs.
Things deteriorated from there as Max Thompson put problems with his run-up behind him to generate some good pace and take three wickets for 16 from a five-over spell that reduced the visitors to 56 for five.
Dave Norwood and Mark Robinson put on 49 for the sixth wicket, but a fine run out executed by Caudwell broke that stand.
Norwood went on to score an unbeaten 62, including a huge six and nine fours.
But at the other end, runs dried up and wickets continued to fall as Thompson returned to complete a return of four for 35 from just ten overs.
Amazingly, batsmen were only able to score from nine of his deliveries!
The victory was made even sweeter by news that close rivals Hyson Green suffered an unexpected defeat to leave Hucknall with a healthy lead at the top of the table.
