HOPEFUL Hucknall Town will run the rule over no fewer than TEN triallists when they kick off their pre-season friendlies against crisis club Mansfield Town at Watnall Road on Saturday.
But high-profile ex-professional George Jermy, who has played in the Spanish League, will not be one of them.

Midfielder Jermy, whose link to Watnall Road was exclusively revealed to the Dispatch earlier this month, has slipped off the club's radar after failing to show up for training last Saturday.

"I won't be chasing Jermy around," Galloway told Town's commercial manager Simon Matters.

"I have a squad ready for tomorrow, so I'm not going to waste my time chasing a player who doesn't seem interested. He has not been in contact with us to tell us his plans."

Jermy is a left-sided player who has been on the books of Norwich City, AFC Bournemouth and Spanish lower league outfit CD Javea. He was apparently looking for a club to join in the Midlands area.

Galloway and Miller will use a batch of seven pre-season friendlies to finalise their squad for the upcoming Blue Square North campaign and hope to have it completed before the fifth friendly against Belper Town on July 29.

One player who won't be there tomorrow is Bobby Wilson, who has left the club).

But new signings James Lindley, Jay Smedley, Matt McKenzie, Laurie Wilson, Nathan Winder and Paul Mitchell are expected to be on parade in the 21-man squad.

And the triallists on show will be ex-pros Danny Sleath and David Kettle, former Yellows Mark Ward, Mark Smith, Kelvin Mushambie and Martyn Burke, goalkeeper Michael Chapman, midfielder David Marlow and the latest possible recruits, Matt Ottley and Luke Smith.

Ottley is a left-back who has been on the books of Brighton and Hove Albion, Crawley Town and Sutton United.

Smith (18), is a defender from Gedling Town of the new East Midlands Counties Football League (four levels below Hucknall).

Former Mansfield man Sleath is a left-footed midfielder who can operate out wide or in the middle. He was released by The Stags in May.

Striker Ward (26) scored Town's fourth penalty in the FA Trophy final shootout against Grays Athletic at Villa Park in 2005.

He was signed by Steve Burr the previous season for £2,000 but found his opportunities limited by the form of Danny Bacon and Gary Ricketts.

Ex-Chesterfield right-winger Smith (24) was a key part of the Dean Barrick side that reached the Trophy final in 2005.

Pacy Zimbabwean striker Mushambie (32), was snapped up by Phil Starbuck in April 2003 after he arrived in Nottingham as an asylum-seeker from his home country.

He left The Yellows six months later after a fruitless spell to join near-rivals Eastwood Town on loan. And aside from a short spell at Belper Town in 2005/06, he has been with the Badgers ever since.
In his younger days, he played for Zimbabwe's under-23 and under-21 national sides.

Youth product Burke made a handful of appearances during the 2005/06 season.

Chapman (18), of Sheffield, is looking to impress after being released by Mansfield Town.

Marlow (27) played for Heanor Town in the Central Midlands League (same level as Rolls Royce Leisure) last season. He can also operate up front.

THE FULL HUCKNALL SQUAD – GOALKEEPERS – James Lindley, Michael Chapman. DEFENDERS – Jay Smedley, Nathan Winder, Matt McKenzie, Gary Sucharewycz, Matt Ottley, Luke Smith. MIDFIELD – Mick Galloway, Laurie Wilson, Mark Smith, Danny Sleath, Paul Mitchell, Dave Marlow, Martyn Burke. ATTACK – Danny Bacon, Pete Knox, Gary Ricketts, David Kettle, Mark Ward, Kelvin Mushambie.
