DELIGHTED Rolls-Royce Leisure cruised into the quarter-finals of the Popkess Cup with a dominant display over Plumtree 2nd.
PLUMTREE 2ND 89
ROLLS-ROYCE LEISURE 93-3

The locals have struggled in Division B of the Gunn And Moore South Notts League this season with something of a headache following last term's relegation.

But against Division C strugg
lers Plumtree 2nd, who have won just one league game this campaign, they had too much ammunition.

Most notably on the bowling front, where new-ball bowler Andrew Pearson shot out the first five in the home team's batting line-up to finish with five victims for 14 runs from four overs.

He struck with his first ball to remove opener Chris Scorey and also clean bowled Plumtree's top scorer, Robby Smith (30, one six and five fours).

Also in the wickets were Alan Pearson (two for eight from four overs) and Saleem Karim (one for 19 from four).

In reply, it was something of a cakewalk for Rolls as openers Wasim
Karim (25 from 14 balls, five fours) and Graeme Wright (nine) put on 30 for the first wicket.

Saleem Karim lofted two sixes and stroked two fours in a 23-ball 28 before Gordon Pearson smashed 23 not out off 14 balls, including a six and three fours, to secure a seven-wicket win in less than 14 overs.

The only success for the Plumtree 2nd bowlers came for Paul Kelly (one for 18 from four overs), Smith (one for seven from 2.1) and the expensive Alam Khan (one for 36 from four).
