HUCKNALL Town favourite Dean Barrick has moved to Poland to start a new life as head of physical education at the British School in Warsaw.
Barrick will be forever remembered as player/manager during Town's glory run to the FA Trophy final at Villa Park in 2005.

Sadly, Barrick suffered a career-ending broken leg in the 25th minute of the final, which the Yellows lost on penalties to Grays Athletic.

Barrick (38), who has a degree in sports science and teacher training qualifications, decided the time was right for a move.

He said: "I thought it was about time for me to try something new.
"Football was all about playing for me, it just wasn't the same after the leg break.

"When the job offer from Poland came along, I decided to take it. And if an opportunity comes along to get involved with a club in Poland, then I might give it a go."

Barrick was brought to Watnall Road by ex-boss Steve Burr in July 2003 after a long and successful career in the Football League at clubs including Sheffield Wednesday, Preston North End and Bury.

And the dependable left-back was instrumental in the 2003/04 season as Town stormed to the Unibond League, Premier Division title.

Barrick was appointed caretaker boss by Town chairman Brian Holmes in September 2004 after the short reign of Ernie Moss.

He was given the player/manager role full-time the following month and led The Yellows to an impressive tenth-place finish in the Nationwide Conference North.
