DELIGHTED members of LEENSIDE (HUCKNALL) WOMEN’S INSTUTITE (WI) came out in force to celebrate 45 years of the organisation.
The President, Alison Inglis, welcomed all members and many guests from local WIs, including Bestwood, Newstead, Annesley, Watnall, Nuthall and Kimberley.
Also present were the chairman of Hucknall Inner Wheel Club, Nova Haskey, Leenside’s auditor, Iris Marshall, and the WI county chairman, Maureen Ashby, who helped the Alison cut a delightful birthday cake she had made.
A meal prepared by the committee along with entertainment provided by the Hucknall Torkard Ensemble were much enjoyed and were thanked by Ruth Houldsworth.
Christmas tree decorations made by Leenside members were on display during the Christmas Tree Festival at Hucknall Parish Church.
The next meeting will be held at the Central Methodist Church on Baker Street, Hucknall, next Tuesday (December 18) when the speaker will be Paul Fowler, who will give a talk entitled ‘Who is the real Father Christmas?’
