Bulwell Academy students were rewarded for their hard work and commitment to learning in an end of year ceremony.
School principal, Mr Paul Halcro, was present and acknowledged the efforts of many during the special event.
“The award ceremony gives us time to reflect on a year of achievements both the academy as it goes from strength to strength and for our hard working students,” said Mr Halcro.
“It gives me and my staff here a tremendous opportunity to congratulate our students for their hard work and commitment.”
The chairman of governors presented the prizes to all the students who had achieved outstanding success in their subject areas and over 60 trophies were presented during the annual ceremony.
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the special awards to students who had made outstanding progress or remarkable achievements within their time at the academy.
One such winner was Jackson Mapfumo who moved to Bulwell from Zimbabwe in 2012 who took the ‘Trailblazer Award’.
“We would describe this student as having blossomed with us – he has an exceptionally positive attitude, a student who appreciates support and works hard to achieve great results,” said Mr Halcro.
Some of the top prizes were sponsored by the Yorkshire Bank and winners not only received their trophy, they also received gift vouchers to reward them for their efforts.
