A DOOR-to-door bus service for elderly and disabled people in Bulwell and the rest of Nottingham can continue.
A contract held by Nottingham Community Transport for the Dial-A-Ride and Local Link Plus services has been renewed by Nottingham Citty Council.
The council’s portfolio holder for planning and transport, Coun Jane Urquhart (Lab), said: “Nottingham Community Transport have considerable experience in dealing with people who are elderly or have a disability, so I think it is fitting that they keep providing the services.”
The contract, which is worth £2.65 million, will start on Sunday January 27 and continue until 2018. The scheme is being funded through the workplace parking levy.
The services were first introduced to Nottingham in 1984 and have proved a great benefit to disabled passengers.
Members of the council who are on its executive board agreed this week to renew the contract.
