The song spent 10 weeks on the UK Singles Chart, reaching number 6 in 1974. The single was released on Magnet Records, and included the song “Come On!” on the B-side, which was written by Alvin Stardust and produced Peter Shelley.

3. Pretend

Alvin Stardust’s cover version of the 1952 song was a popular hit in the United Kingdom in 1981, when it reached number four in the UK singles chart. This cover was largely based on Carl Mann’s 1959-version of this song.

2. My Coo Ca Choo

The first successful release for Alvin Stardust, reaching number two in the UK Singles Chart in December 1973. The glam rock single fared even better in Australia, where it spent seven weeks at the top and was the best charting single in the country in 1974.
