A SCHEME with the double aim of enabling stressed people in Hucknall to keep fit and develop creative talents is now in full swing.

The Arts On Prescription initiative has launched its latest project, entitled ‘Going For A Walk’.

The scheme helps people aged 16 and over who experience mild to moderate depression or anxiety. It is aimed at making life easier by encouraging creativity and providing opportunities for friendship within a group.

The latest aspect of the scheme supports residents of Hucknall and other people in the Ashfield and Gedling districts to engage in creative activities while exercising through walking.

The free sessions are running during the summer months and take place on Fridays. One of the groups meets at the Under One Roof centre on Vine Terrace, Hucknall, and walks in surrounding rural areas, including Bestwood Country Park.

A spokesman said: “The aim is to encourage people to enjoy a walk in pleasant surroundings and at the same time derive inspiration for different kinds of artistic activity, which include painting, drawing and craft work.”

“The scheme can be described as a fantastic opportunity to meet new people, learn new artistic skills and take a walk through some beautiful areas.”
