At a recent meeting of Hucknall Arts Society, one member was awarded the Chris Baron Slave award for her picture.
The group meet every Wednesday at the Watnall Road Community Centre at 7pm, and new members are always welcome.
The Chris Baron Slave has been presented for the past 10 years, and this year was won by Lynne Jackson from Watnall Road, Hucknall, whose picture of a pair of children’s trainers on a kitchen worktop attracted praise.
“The quantity and quality of the society’s artists get better every year,” said Coun Baron. “Lynne’s painting of the trainers on a worktop was like a photograph, the detail was fantastic.”
The society has applied for a £200 grant to assist with room hire and paying for visiting artists to demonstrate their works.
“I know that they will use the £200 in the best interests of the group,” added Coun Baron.
