Shirebrook Academy students will receive an inspirational talk from Ashfield MP Gloria De Piero as part of a national initiative to raise aspirations of the next generation.
The newly appointed shadow women and equalities minister will be giving the talk as part of the Speakers for Schools initiative on 18th October at 2pm at the Academy.
Gloria is just one of hundreds of eminent and famous people from across the arts, politics and the professions to have signed up to the initiative.
It was launched by the BBC’s journalist, Robert Peston, to give talks at schools in some of the most deprived areas of the country and broaden young people’s horizons.
The Labour MP will talk to youngsters about her career so far, which has taken her from the steps of Downing Street as a journalist and reporter to being elected MP for Ashfield in the 2010 General Election. Speakers give their time to help young people become more confident and ambitious in their future careers.
