A motorbiking grandmother from Hucknall has collected a clutch of Easter eggs for big-hearted bikers to deliver to children’s homes and hospitals.

Jean Brooks and pal Chad Naughton gathered 87 eggs with cash donated by shoppers outside the Wilkinson store last Saturday, and this Sunday will take them to Nottingham’s Goose Fair site where a rally of 600 riders will carry them to Mansfield fire station in their annual Easter Egg Run.

Jean (62), of Goodall Crescent, said: “We got too many eggs to fit in our trailer! If people still have any spare eggs, bring them down on Sunday before we set off at 9.30am.”

Jean, who belongs to the ‘Two Hats’ Bikers Club, took up riding two years ago: “I was a little old lady thinking of taking up knitting - but now I feel totally rejuvenated and do all the things I should have done when I was 18. My grandchildren call me ‘G Ma’ because I’m too hip to be called ‘Grandma’!”

The eggs will be distributed to children’s charities and homes throughout Nottinghamshire and the ride will raise funds for Notts Fire & Rescue.
