Boozy drivers are drinking more before getting behind wheel

THE AMOUNT of alcohol being consumed by drink-drivers in the Dispatch district before they get behind the wheel is increasing, police figures show.

The average reading of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath in January was 66 microgrammes.

But in five of the eight months up to September, the reading was 70 microgrammes or more. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
