A 13-YEAR-old schoolboy who suffered head injuries after a fight at a Hucknall school is in a ‘serious but stable’ condition in hospital.

The teenager was involved in an ‘altercation’ with another 13-year-old pupil at the National Church Of England Academy at 9.50 am on Thursday (September 22).

The boy was taken to King’s Mil Hospital, Sutton-in-Ashfield, and the police were called in to investigate.

Later on Thursday, the injured 13-year-old was transferred to the specialist Glenfield Hospital in Leicester. His parents are with him.

Police say the fight happened while the two boys were in their year-nine class at the Academy on Annesley Road.

“The boy who was injured is in a serious but stable condition and his parents are with him,” said a police spokesman. “The other teenager is accompanied by his mother and is helping police with their inquiries.”

No-one else was involved but officers are also speaking to other pupils who were in the classroom at the time.

Detectives are continuing to work closely with the school to establish the full facts of what happened.

Lessons continued as normal on the day of the drama.
