FIREFIGHTERS are still tackling a massive blaze that has ripped through a scrapyard in Bestwood Village.
The blaze at the Ponderosa site on Moor Road started at 5 pm on Sunday (July 10) but crews were still having to tackle the fire throughout Monday July 11.
Flames spread among approximately 1,000 tonnes of timber and the contents of a rubbish skip.
Firefighters were said to be in ‘defensive mode’ and the last update available was that they were creating breaks in the fire using heavy machinery.
No-one has been injured in the fire and Moor Road was closed for several hours.
