BUDDING artist Faith Priestley takes up her roller at a painting party, which was held at the Market Place Children’s Centre in Hucknall.
The youngster was one of more than 25 children, aged up to eight, to take part in the SureStart-organised attraction which involved all kinds of paint-related artistic expression.
SureStart children’s worker Sam Pearson said the painting party proved very popular.
“We were very busy,” she said. “It was a big success. The session was a great chance for the children to get a bit messy and learn about all the fun you can have with paint and the different painting methods.”
As well as traditional painting tools like the brush and roller, the little Picasso-wannabes had the chance to have their faces painted and to learn about spray painting and natural painting, using leaves and flowers to paint.
The party was one of a series of summer-holidays events organised by SureStart, whose service is based at the John Godber Centre on Ogle Street.
The organisation provides a host of services for children and families including health services, advice on child care and parenting, and assistance for parents who want to find jobs and training.
