CHRISTMAS will be launched in Bulwell on Monday with the official switch-on of the lights on the civic tree in the town centre.
The ceremony will take place on the Main Street pedestrian precinct from 3.30 pm until 4.45 pm and the lights will be switched on at about 4 pm.
This will be performed by Coun Jackie Morris, a Labour member for Bulwell ward on Nottingham City Council.
She will be assisted by a child chosen for the occasion as the winner of a raffle among youngsters.
Linda Abbott, of Bulwell Education Action Zone, said: “The lighting ceremony has become a very popular feature of the countdown to Christmas in Bulwell and it always attracts a big crowd, including large contingents from local schools.
“As in previous years, Bulwell schoolchildren have made decorations to put on the Christmas tree. I think it is a very nice tree, although it looks slightly smaller than those provided for the town centre in previous years.”
