AN EAGERLY-awaited bus-service has hit the road to help commuters in Hucknall and other parts of the Dispatch district get to work at one of the area’s main employment hubs.

Transport operator Premiere launched the new number-two route, which will link the outlying villages of Underwood, Selston, Jacksdale and Brinsley to the main tram stop in Hucknall town centre.

The service will focus on getting passengers to the Sherwood Business Park at Annesley, where several businesses employ hundreds of people.

The launch of the route marks the completion of two years of hard work by Coun Gail Turner (Ind), Coun Sam Wilson (Ind) and Coun David Darby, a member of Selston Parish Council

Coun Turner said after using the service: “It is absolutely fantastic. This is something we’ve been crying out for and it has taken a lot of hard work to get to this stage. I am delighted and the new buses will make a huge difference to residents.”
