Mansfield accountancy firm Stopford Associates are offering their expert advice to local businesses as part of the Government’s Growth Vouchers scheme, which launches at the end of January.

Through this scheme, small businesses will be able to apply for a free growth voucher, worth between £100 to £2,000, to use to receive advice from business experts, such as Stopfords who will be providing financial and cash flow support.

The Growth Vouchers scheme aims to address a gap in the market for providing external business advice, by making it much easier for businesses to find providers of strategic advice on key topics such as financial management, recruitment, leadership skills, sales and marketing and digital technology.

In the 2013 budget, George Osborne announced the introduction of £30m worth of Growth Vouchers for small businesses to allow them access to the right support to help them grow.

Since then, the Department for Business Innovation and Skills have declared that the scheme will run until the end of March 2015 and advice may be provided face-to-face, over the telephone or online.

Additionally, an online marketplace has been developed as part of the scheme, which will successfully connect the businesses to the experts.

It is becoming widely recognised that the appropriate use of external advice is beneficial to business performance; with firms that seek external advice more likely to grow than those that don’t.

Brian Stopford Director at Stopford Associates, said: “We are delighted to have joined the Growth Voucher scheme and offer our service to encourage growth in local businesses.”

‘It is also a great opportunity for many of the small businesses in the area to receive expert advice in areas that could have a positive impact on business performance, and I would strongly encourage them to take advantage of the vouchers.’

The scheme officially launches on 27th January, but it is now open for registration.
