VOLUNTEER drivers are needed for community transport schemes across Hucknall and the rest of Nottinghamshire.
An appeal has been launched by Notts County Council to find fresh recruits for the schemes, which provide essential travel for the elderly, disabled and those who struggle to access public transport.
A scheme has been running out of the Under One Roof Centre on Vine Terrace in Hucknall for several years.
The county council provides more than £200,000 a year to support the initiatives. Currently there are nearly 500 volunteer drivers across the county, travelling 150,000 miles a year and providing nearly 75,000 car trips.
Volunteers can drive their own cars or minibuses that are provided.
To volunteer, visit the Transport Accessible To All (TATA) pages at www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk/tata, or contact Robin Riley on 0115 9774520.
