A BULWELL man will again lead a group of cyclists on a charity bike-ride in memory of a football coach from Hucknall who died from cancer.
MARK TAYLOR (44), of Newmarket Road, will be joined by friends on the 76-mile slog from Nottingham to Skegness on Saturday May 19.
The ride is in memory of JOHN BETTERIDGE, who died in April 2010 from cancer at the age of 42. He was an integral part of the Linby Colliery Welfare Ladies Football Club (now Notts County Ladies).
He suffered a brain tumour that led to melanoma cancer.
Mark was a friend of John from their days at the former Alderman Derbyshire Comprehensive School in Bulwell.
Last year, the cyclists raised more than £1,000 for the Melanoma Focus charity.
The ride is now an annual event and although it will always be in honour of John, a different charity will benefit each year.
This time around, money collected will go to Barnado’s to provide support for children who suffer from poverty and abuse.
