BESTWOOD Male Voice Choir commemorated the Royal British Legion’s 2012 Poppy Appeal by joining voices with the Greasley Singers in a concert at the Chatsworth Theatre in Long Eaton.
According to Peter Fletcher of Bestwood MVC ‘the appreciative audience enjoyed a variety of songs’.
Bestwood performed two Remembrance-appropriate numbers, ‘Comrades in Arms’ and ‘En Route’. The former with words by George Linley and music by by Adolphe Adam and the latter was a new piece in the choir’s repertoire with words by David Davies and music by Lyn Harry.
Both choirs came together to sing some old favourites with the audience joining in with ‘I’ll be Seeing You’, ‘We’ll Meet Again’, ‘White Cliffs of Dover’ before ending the evening with The National Anthem.
All proceeds from ticket sales and a raffle on the night raised just over £450 for the Poppy Appeal.
